Dr. Mike Muir
2009-2010
I have been an educator for almost 25 years. Over that time, I have been a high school and middle school mathematics teacher, a middle grades technology integrator, a university practicum supervisor, a professor of middle grades education and educational technology, and a a consultant working with other educators to actively create motivating and engaging learning environments for all students.
I currently work with ResulTech, an organization that does schools to motivate kids, I remain faculty at the University of Maine at Farmington and Director of the Maine Center for Meaningful Engaged Learning.
ResulTech schools strive to motivate students through positive relationships, real world learning, a focus on job and career training, and technology-rich environments. Clients select our solutions as efforts to reengage disaffected and at-risk youth, as interventions to reduce minority isolation, and as economic development initiatives. We currently have projects in Philadelphia, PA; Chester, PA; Fairbanks, AK; Buffalo, NY; and Ringgold, GA. We are a leader in providing innovative educational programs.
I’m also active in the International Society for Technology in Education (SIG 1to1 Chair; SIG Council member), the Maine Association for Middle Level Education (Past President), and the National Middle School Association (East Region Trustee, former Research Advisory Board member), and present widely on motivating underachievers, engaging educational programs, middle level education, and 1to1 learning with laptop initiatives
