Maya Animation
Maya is a popular 3D animation suite that UMF has licenses for. With Maya you can create 3D models and animate them. The more time spent tweaking your "scene", as it is referred to in Maya, the more realistic it can become.Right now I am working on creating a model that will eventually be a 3D representation of the UMF mascot. I started by making a skeleton, which Maya has a utility for and then added shapes around the skeleton. After cementing the shapes to the skeleton, I created a path for it to follow. Through animation, the shapes moved with the skeleton in a realistic way. This is only one of MANY projects that can be done with the Maya program.
Included is a screen capture from my first project in Maya. It is simply a ball that bounces along and leaps thorugh a hoop. First the ball and the hoop were created. Then the ball was animated to jump through the hoop. Lastly, a face was added to the surface of the ball to give it a better look.
