Funky Font Choices: |
There are a few Standard Fonts that are supported by all web browsers and that tend to look and act very similarly on all computers. All body text should be in one of these three Standard Fonts or font families.
* Helvetica/Arial/San-serif
* Times/Times New Roman/Serif
* Courier/Monospace
If you NEED to use another font, you should not choose it in the Font menu in Mozilla Composer or in any other Web page creation software. You will have to create it in an image editor such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Photopaint, etc. After you set up the font exactly the way you want it, save it as either a GIF or a JPEG. What you are doing is creating a picture of the text which you will then place into your Web page. Since it is a picture/image of the text, it is not editable in your Web creation software. If you need to edit (change) it, you will have to go back into Photoshop to do it there.
If you choose a non-standard font in your Web creation software, unless the viewer of your page has that font in their computer system, they will not be able to read it.
Example:
You decide you want to use a font that you have on your computer such as "Lucida Handwriting" for all of your titles. The font really appeals to you, and it fits the tone of your content. If you choose the font from the font menu in the Web creation software, it will show up properly in your Composer window.

But when the page is opened in a Web browser by someone who does not have that font, it just doesn't work. What the viewer will see is:
![]()
Alternatively, if you create a GIF or JPEG document in Photoshop (or some other image creation software) with the exact ttext that you want, you can insert that image into your page instead. I've put the text on a colored background, so you can see that it is an image of the text, not the text itself.

Another thing about creating your text in an image editor is that you can modify it by applying filters, adding patterned backgrounds, etc. You can get more creative with it.
