UMF Music performance opportunities

The UMF Community Chorus is a one-hundred voice oratorio choir that performs a wide range of repertoire from large works such as the Mozart Requiem or Bernstein Chichester Psalms to folk songs and spirituals. The choir often performs with orchestra. To join, simply register for the course as you would any other class. No audition or permission is required. The Community Chorus rehearses Monday evenings. The UMF Chamber Choir, conducted by Steven Pane, is a fifty-voice ensemble made up of students, faculty and other members of the Franklin County community. The choir sings challenging works from the chamber repertoire such as Benjamin Britten’s Hymn to St. Cecilia or a Monteverdi’s Madrigals of Love and War. In some years the choir performs outside of Farmington or on tour. Participation requires a one-year commitment and successful completion of an audition. The UMF Community Orchestra, conducted by Graybert Beacham, is a diverse ensemble comprising UMF students, local high school students, community members, and a few professional musicians who are brought in to fill missing chairs for the concerts. This orchestra is meant to be a venue for all its members to perform, learn, and have fun! The orchestra rehearses Wednesday evenings.
