White Nights

by Scott Erb

It doesn’t matter if the hot water’s out
Or if the economy is falling apart
It doesn’t matter if they future’s unclear
Or if everyday mixes hope and fear

Because the summer brings the white nights
And the city becomes alive
Whatever’s wrong seems alright
And troubles are pushed aside

White nights – sidewalk cafes and a Karoke tent
White nights – head to the park and meet your friends
Don’t worry about tomorrow
It doesn’t help at all
Forget about the sorrow
Tonight we’ll have a ball
White nights

Soon the sun will move north to south
The lakes will freeze and the days grow dark
Life’s inevitable change is not to worry about
Live in the moment, it provides the spark
To take whatever will come
So let’s enjoy the midnight sun

White nights - crowded streets, people milling about
White nights - celebrate with friends, enjoy life now
Don’t worry about tomorrow
It doesn’t help at all
Forget about the sorrow
Tonight we’ll have a ball

White nights
