After only a day we departed Mutni Materik, here are a couple pictures of the village taken from the ship as we left. Being only 70 kilometers from the arctic circle the early July evenings were light – the so called "white nights." That takes some getting used to, as it never gets completely dark, and only for a couple hours does the sunlight dim enough to seem like evening. Of course, in the winter the opposite is the case!
