Unter den Linden is a famous street where embassies and government buildings stand, leading from the Brandenburg gate towards Alexander Platz.  Although the mid November photos above don't do justice to the beauty of it, you can see it's a large broad street with a pleasant walkway in the middle.  In the summer there are stands selling souvenirs and Wurst in the middle, as well as games and people relaxing on the benches.   The first picture is of the S-Bahn stop.  Berlin has S-Bahns, a system of mostly above ground trains connecting all parts of the city, U-Bahns, which are subways running mostly underground, and busses.  It is one of the best cities for public transportation, with busses and some trains running all night.  It is also a very big city due to its large parks and how it is spread out.  To travel from one part of Berlin to another can take over an hour.  I left my digital camera in a little bar near Hackischer Markt in old East Berlin at about 1:00 AM as we tried to find the last subway back to a friend's place.  Almost home I realized what happened, and made my way back.  Luckily the waitress had found and saved the camera, and I got it back.   By then the subways had stopped running, but an S-Bahn and a night bus easily got us back.
