Above left is a sign announcing the date of the opening of the new synagogue. Note that it is NOVEMBER 9, 2001. That is not only 12 years to the day after the fall of the wall (the date is in the lower left corner of the poster), but 63 years to the date of Kristallnacht, a night where organized Nazi violence against Jews and their property showed just what the anti-semetic state was planning. On that night gains organized by the National Socialists (Nazis) attacked Jews, Jewish businesses and those who would defend Jews, injuring many, killing some, and destroying homes and businesses. Many date the holocaust as starting that evening, as soon war came and the Jews had no where to go.
