From atop the TV tower.  Above are similar views, the first looks more closely at Unter den Linden, a famous street lined with Linden Trees leading to the Brandenburg Gate.   That is the street where you see trees in between large buildings, a part of old East Berlin.  At the end is the Brandenburg Gate which marks the border between what was East and West Berlin.  The large swath of trees is Tiergarten, a big park which contains a zoo and was a good get away from the hub bub of the city right in the center of Berlin.   On the right you can see the region leading that direction from the TV tower, where construction is taking place still.  On the lower left is the square with the statue of Marx and Engels, behind them the Republik Palace, across from a famous old church.
