The Arc de Triumph, at the end of the Champs Elysees in Paris.  The first shot was taken our first night in town.  We'd traveled from Neuss (near Duesseldorf) via Cologne Germany to Paris, and then navigated the confusing Paris metro to our hotel, near the Dupliex stop very close to the Eifel tower.  Tourism was down in the fall of 2001, so we got a good hotel in a good location at a really cheap price!  One thing about the Paris metro: be prepared to walk if you have to transfer.  Up, down, long halls...few escalators.   It feels like a maze.  The system is actually pretty good, but transfers for some reason require time and distance.  After settling in we went for a walk in twilight and got the first picture.  The second was taken the second day.   I never had a strong desire to go to Paris.  I speak German, some Italian, and my lack of French always led me to shy away from traveling much in France (though in the early eighties I spent a week and a half in the early around Toulouse and Montaubon).   It is good I stayed away so long, because discovering the fascinating and exciting city of Paris was a treat I'm glad I saved for my recent trip.  What a city!
