Get your
midi files right here.
Vivaldi’s “Gloria”
and
Charpentier’s “Messe
de Minuit pour Noël”
For
most people these will play in your browser by simply clicking on the
link. To save on your own hard drive,
right click and use the “Save Link as...” feature. The files are tiny by
comparison to audio files (about 100 time smaller than mp3’s and 1000 times
smaller than cd audio files.)
Windows
media player or Real Player should be able to play these files if you don’t
have another midi player. Mac owners, I
can’t imagine that your mac won’t play these. I’m pretty sure the mac
program “quicktime” will play them. At any rate just click on them and your
browser will most likely play them. See what happens. If you want more control of the playback you
can get a midi sequencer. I use a
program called cakewalk, but there are freeware sequencers available online. I
found one called “jazz++” at http://www.jazzware.com/zope
. With a sequencer you can speed it up,
slow it down, change key, fix wrong notes, change emphasis, change instruments,
etc.
Any
trouble, let me know. Any mistakes, let
me know (by measure # in the printed music or in the midi file) (pauls@maine.edu) .
The links below each have
the specified part emphasized. The emphasized part is mostly in the left
speaker, with the other vocal parts on
the right and the accompaniment in the middle. You can thus control the
relative loudness with balance control.
