The Seminar on Epistemology and History of Mathematical Ideas will meet at the Institut Henri Poincaré in Paris. The speakers will be Bruno Gagneux on the topic Commentaires et critiques sur la Géométrie de Descartes, de Schooten à Rabuel and Michel Serfati on the topic La Géométrie de Descartes, ou la ‘pierre de Rosette’ du symbolisme.

The East Midlands branch of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications will present a talk by Tony Croft on Some interesting observations on the early history of differential equations at Loughborough University in Leicestershire, UK.

The conference Archimedes in the 21st Century: 23 Centuries of Influence on Mathematics, Engineering and Science will be organized by Chris Rorres and hosted by the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences in New York City. There is no admission fee for the conference, but preregistration is required.

The Canadian Society for the History and Philosophy of Science (CSHPS) will hold its annual conference as part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences (CFHSS) at the University of Victoria. The call for papers for the conference is now available, with the deadline for submissions February 1, 2013.
