Note

The Longman Writer's Companion is abbreviated Longman. Unless you are specifically assigned to do so, you do not have to complete the numerous exercises in Longman. Signs of Life in the USA is abbreviated Signs. Likewise, you do not have to complete the questions at the end of reading selections unless assigned to do so, although I do suggest that you read through and think about those questions.
