Put the Fathom data files that are on the Student CD in the back of your book on your laptop or a USB flash drive. STUDYING TIP: First do the appropriate reading and complete the in-class activities that we didn't do in class. Then study your class notes. Finally, do the homework problems. When you get to class each day, write the numbers of problems to discuss on the board.

Draw two marbles from the bag (without replacement). (a) Make a tree diagram that shows the possible outcomes for this experiment. (b) Find the probabliity distribtuion for the variable "number of red marbles drawn." (c) What is the expected value for the number of red marbles drawn? (d) What's the probability that at most 1 red marble is drawn? (e) What's that probability that at least 1 red marble is drawn? (f) What's the probability that more than one marble is drawn? (g) What's the probability that less than 1 red marble is drawn? Problem B: Draw letters (without replacement) from the word "HELP" until you get two consonants. (a) Make a tree diagram that shows the possible outcomes for this experiment. (b) What is the size of the sample space? Are all outcomes equally likely?
