Geology is the study of Earth
- the entire physical-chemical-biological system. At UMF, the geology program is centered on student research in the field and lab. Beginning at the introductory level, students are outdoors studying topics as varied as fluvial processes, magma dynamics, or Appalachian tectonics.
Geology is more relevant than ever; we study geology to understand the natural processes that control our environment and the energy, water, and mineral resources we use.
